Chief facilities officer, administratively responsible for planning, design, construction, alteration, and maintenance of all University owned facilities, grounds and related physical assets.


  • Long range campus planning, implementation of Campus Master Plan, help in the preparation and administration of Capital Outlay Programs.  Liaison for capital outlay projects with the LSU System Property and Facilities Offices and the state office of Facility Planning and Control.
  • Design and construction of renovation and alteration projects for campus facilities. Reviews project plans and specifications for adherence to design standards and to ensure designs meet University requirements.
  • Managing construction projects on campus by acting as owner liaison with the Contractor and/or Architect/Engineer.  Monitors field construction for compliance with plans, specifications, and safety guidelines.
  • Operations and maintenance of University facilities and ensuring that Facility Services departments operate within their assigned budgets.
  • Preparing reports and records on departmental activities for submission to management as required.
  • Ensuring that Facility Services has all programs and procedure in place to meet requirements of accreditation.
  • Directing, through subordinates, all administrative, craft, professional, clerical activities required for operation and maintenance function including administration of deferred maintenance program.  Prepares and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, training programs to insure employees are up to date on departmental procedures and equipment.
  • Technical oversight on campus energy program.  Manages Utility Budget and prepares utility use and cost projections if needed.
  • Enforcement of University, LSU System, State and Federal rules, regulations, and policies regarding facilities.
  • Developing information designed to keep serviced customers informed of departmental projects.  Promotes goodwill though public relations efforts such as visits to individuals and departments that receive services from Facility Services.
  • Managing Facility Services budgets and accounts to ensure all projects/activities fall within budgeted allocations for each fiscal year.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.


  • Bachelors’ degree required, and a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in related field required.
  • Experience in project management; construction related projects; facility planning and management; and/or utility services management preferred.
  • Working knowledge or better of all applications in the Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience with managing large budgets preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well with various campus constituents (verbal and written) required.
