Home to the San Diego County Fair, the Del Mar Fairgrounds/22nd District Agricultural Association is a highly visible organization that provides public programs in the second largest county in California, has a $550 million economic impact on the greater San Diego County region, and maintains 324-acres of state land within the California Coastal Commission's jurisdiction.
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Facilities Director is a critical position in the organization’s commitment to be the community’s iconic place for social interaction and cultural expression, honoring traditions, embracing innovation, celebrating excellence, and having fun, with a focus on:
- Developing, and implementing strategies, goals and plans aligned with the organization’s mission and vision to connect our community through shared interests, diverse experiences, and service to one another in an inclusive, accessible, and safe place.
- Planning, organizing and directing the work of the trades and maintenance teams to maintain and improve the 324-acres of infrastructure, landscape, and facilities of the District.
- Executing, managing and directing a diverse team of employees and contractors to provide a wide variety of facility services in support of the multitude of events and activities that occur on District properties, including the annual San Diego County Fair.
- Facilities planning and management, maintenance and repairs, janitorial services, safety and regulatory compliance, and ensuring excellent customer service.
Oversight and projects include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing, managing and directing the complex operations of the Facilities Department by developing and implementing a structure that aligns with the District’s purpose, mission, vision, and values to successfully execute programs.
- Playing a key role in helping to build and maintain a dynamic team culture where employees are engaged and find long-term success by exhibiting objectivity and openness and contribute to building teamwork, morale, and commitments to District goals and objectives.
- Developing, managing, and implementing the annual departmental budget.
- Managing, coordinating, and overseeing the contracting, designing, and constructing of facilities and maintenance projects identified in the operation and/or capital expenditure budgets.
- Formulating, administrating, and ensuring compliance with all laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that apply to facility safety.
- Actively engaging in community outreach and involvement.
