Description

Conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and general servicing of electrical systems and related components.   Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

Installs, repairs and maintains motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring and other electrical system equipment and components with electrical codes, standards and regulations for low and high voltage service and equipment.  Studies and prepares plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations.  Responsible for procurement of materials and tools required for project completion.  Obtains electrical permits to validate and ensure code compliance.  Designates field assignments and mentors Electrician Apprentice position.  Ensures jobs are completed and walk through final inspections with City inspector.  Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.



Requirements

High School Diploma/GED; Technical School Training preferred.  Journeyman Electrician licensed in the State of Texas.  Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards and regulations.  Five years of job related experience.  Ability to make good sound decisions.  Functional computer skills and knowledge of various building components.  Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, meters and test lamps.  Ability to read, draw and interpret electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and HVAC schematics, one line diagrams and control sequence of operations.  Good verbal and written communication skills along with good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials. 

 

SALARY RANGE: Operator/Skilled Trade Grade 8, $1,537.60 - $1,851.20 biweekly based on qualifications
